We Can Help Writers Impacted by the LA Fires

It’s a difficult week to launch a business. Friends and mentors have lost their homes. The neighborhoods most impacted, Pacific Palisades and Altadena, have large, well-known writer communities who have been largely lost. Here at Plot & Page, Liz evacuated to Michael’s house, and then both of us got out of LA for a while. We’re out of danger, for now, it seems, but things certainly feel different.

We know you’re here on the Plot & Page site because you are a writer. Our hearts are breaking for those who have lost their homes, memories, and so much more, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned about the writing community in the past few years of union action and industry turmoil, it’s that we band together to help one another. It’s at the heart of collaboration. And you can be a part of that no matter where you are.

If you’d like to know how to help writers in LA who have been impacted, here is a link to the Entertainment Community Fund where the Writer’s Guild is raising money for members who have lost their homes or been significantly displaced, and a donation intake form to help us meet specific needs of members. We will continue to update here and on our social media as ways to address the needs of the community become clearer.

Stay safe, hold onto your loved ones, and let’s push onward, together.
